«A dream come true!». This is how the association In Loco classifies the birth of two Urban Community Gardens in neighborhoods of Tavira, within the scope of the Seed Project, which brought together partners and gardeners around a common goal, the result of which will be demonstrated on the 21st, Monday .
The promoters of the “Seed Project”, supported by the Healthy Neighborhoods Programme, will show the result of this initiative in visits to Horta Figueira, next to the municipal swimming pools (15 pm) and to Horta Amendoeira, in the space of the Tavira Agricultural Experimentation Center (30 pm) .
The visit will be followed "by a moment of sharing, at 17 pm, at the CEAT premises, where the entities that sponsored and played a leading role in this initiative will take the floor to share their views on the Healthy Neighborhoods program, the Seed Project and the experiences and results achieved in Tavira».
«Particular emphasis will be given to the participation and testimonies of the gardeners from both gardens, who were the main protagonists of the Seed Project and who will be invited to share their experience about the path taken and what it means for each one to be part of this community process» , adds In Loco.
At 17 pm, the gardeners will sign the regulations for Hortas Urbanas de Tavira and there will be a drink.
The Algarve association invites «all those who have contributed in some way to making the dream of installing two Urban Community Vegetable Gardens next to the Neighborhoods of Tavira» possible, as well as «all people who are interested in key issues what this project intends to contribute to: Food self-determination; Sustainable Food; Mediterranean Diet; Organic farming; Community Empowerment; Partnerships for Sustainable Development”.
