The HMB are the highlight of New Year's Eve festivities in Tavira. The theme group “Don't take me wrong”, led by Héber Marques, performs in Praça da República, on the night of New Year's Eve, from 00:10 am.
According to the Câmara de Tavira, this year the Christmas festivities are aimed at all audiences and include numerous offers: lighting, music, circus, street entertainment, performing arts, shows and craft workshops, folklore, gastronomic demonstrations, wine tasting , fireworks, nativity scenes and charolas.
The celebrations begin at Ribeira Market, with shows of choral, jazz, traditional, gospel, philharmonic, lyrical and even circus music.

On the 7th of January next year, an accordion show will take place in the same space.
On the 4th of December, the anniversary of the classification of the Mediterranean Diet as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO (Azerbaijan, Baku, 2013), the commemorative concert with interpreters from Sudan, Morocco, Guinea Conakry and Portugal – Muhsilwan & Zé Francisco.
Jardim das Palmeiras, in a co-organization of the associations ASTA, Almadrava and Albacora with the support of the Municipality, hosts, on the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd of December, 6th and 7th of January, between 10:00 am and 18:00 pm, and on the 24th, between 10:00 am and 13:00 pm, the Christmas craft shows.
The Association for the Integrated Development of Downtown (UAC) also promotes different initiatives alluding to the time. On the 8th, at 11:00 am, downtown receives the Pai Natal, which brings with it company and a lot of animation.
The little ones will have the opportunity to visit, between the 8th and the 28th, in Praça da República, the Santa's House and have fun in christmas train🇧🇷 The festivities continue with street entertainment on the 10th, 17th and 24th (10h00 – 13h00) and on the 23rd (14h30 – 17h30).
With the aim of encouraging consumption in local businesses, Associação Baixa de Tavira carries out the usual christmas pastime, between December 1st and January 6th. This includes weekly draws and a final one on January 6th.
The Municipal Market hosts, on the 10th and 17th, at 10 am, under the guidance of the Chef Jorge Rodrigues, gastronomic demonstrations alluding to this season with chefs Arnaldo Correia and Adérito Almeida. This is followed, at 12:00, by animation with the performance of folk groups.
From the 2nd to the 24th of December, the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library offers the program “In the library shoe”, which includes the following activities: “After all, what is Christmas?” (exhibition of Christmas trees with messages from users); “Christmas Readings” (readings and thematic workshops – 15, 16, 20 and 21: 10:30 am, 14:30 pm | 19: 14:30 pm) and “There is no Christmas without Books” (suggestions for readings – 2 and 24).
On the 17th, at 21 pm, in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, the christmas concert with the participation of Ensemble São Bernardo. Under the guidance of maestro Nuno Margarido Lopes, this choir made up of 12 voices will interpret a program of Christmas classics.
On the night of the 31st of December to the 1st of January, the party takes place, from 22:30, in Praça da República, to the sound of Rita Fox Band. O fireworks, on the Discoveries Bridge, welcomes the new year. The animation continues, in Praça da República, with the HMB and DJ Di Angello.
O concert of kings will take place on January 7th, at 21:30, in the Church of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, with Orquestra Clássica do Sul.
On the 8th of January, at 15 pm, the Mercado da Ribeira will be the stage for the XXXVI Charola Festival “City of Tavira”, which has the participation of five groups.
The Municipal Museum of Tavira-Palácio da Galeria welcomes craft workshops, in collaboration with the Associação Em Contacto Tavira – Lado a Lado Project. On the 3rd, 17th and 27th of December, at 14 pm, the action is dedicated to palm oil. On the 00th, 10th and 20th, at the same time, workshops for taleigos take place.
The Municipal Firefighters of Tavira once again fulfill the tradition with the creation of another Christmas Nativity Scene with hundreds of figures, which can be visited daily until January 8th.
Between November 28th and January 9th, from 10:00 am to 17:00 pm, it is possible to visit, in the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Consolação, the Christmas Nativity Scene of Tavira Grouping 100 of the National Scout Corps – Portuguese Catholic Scouting.
