The association Casa-Museu José Pinto Contreiras will publicly present itself in a session that will take place on the 19th of November, at 15:00, in the hall of the former Sociedade Recreativa Gorjonense, in Gorjões, Lugar do Alto, in the municipality of Faro.
The José Pinto Contreiras House-Museum “will have a permanent character and is intended to preserve the collective memory and dynamize the Parish of Santa Bárbara de Nexe, as well as the development of multiple cultural activities at the Gorjões site”, according to the association.
On the 19th, in addition to the presentation of the José Pinto Contreiras House-Museum, the permanent exhibition “Origins” will be inaugurated, with documents and artefacts from the patron and the Contreiras family, as well as the temporary exhibition “Hipocentro(s), in the Galeria do Contreiras space. Alto, which brings together works by Adão Contreiras, Álvaro Mendonça, Eva Nunes, Isabel Sabino, Jorge Mendonça, José Assis, Marcílio Campina, Noémio Ramos, Olavo Costa, Paulo Serra, Pulita, Romeu Costa, Rosa Trindade and Vicente de Brito.
A concert by Zé Eduardo and Lighthousers ends the party.
In addition to these initiatives, the association intends to invest in the organization of conferences and give space to local socio-cultural interventions.
It is also planned “the creation of spaces for a library, video library and visitable music library, the organization of artistic residencies, the publication of relevant works on local and regional culture and studies and projects relevant to the community”.
