A concert and a masterclass mark yet another initiative of the first edition of the Cachopo Jazz, which continues on Sunday, November 20th, in this parish of Tavira.
This time, Ana Rita Inácio is the voice invited by the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve to accompany a sextet of musicians from OJA, to present, together, “Sol de Novembro”, a concert that is scheduled for 15:30 pm, in the Auditorium of the Complexo Social of Cachopo, whose program focuses on Portuguese music.
Ao Sul Informação, Hugo Alves, director of Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, explains that Cachopo Jazz had its first initiative in May and is an activity included within a concept inaugurated this summer, which is the Echo Jazz.
It is a concept that, according to the music director, is now part of «all activities» of Algarve music training and that aims to «draw people’s attention to individual practices in favor of the environment and climate change».
In addition, the concept is combined with «unique locations», most often also linked to heritage, as is the case of Cachopo.
«What is happening in Cachopo is a very extensive programme, which involves various activities, many of them linked to the environmental and ecological reality in which this parish is an example and is inserted. There is great dynamism around sport, culture and other activities», he stresses Sul Informação Hugo Alves.
«We didn't choose Cachopo, Cachopo chose us», he reinforced.
«By visiting Cachopo, people understand how that place manages to receive this music, work on this concept and what it is that exists in that area that no longer exists in others in the Algarve. They understand why it is important to preserve and change some things so that all places become more like this again », he explains.
In practical terms, Hugo Alves stresses that, within the scope of the Eco Jazz concept, the orchestra has adopted internal initiatives – such as sharing transport or not using disposable products – which are then passed on to the public, encouraging people to travel as well for group concerts and who choose to use recyclable materials.
On the 20th, by the same musicians, there will be the masterclass “Sound Capsules”, with the support of DGArtes. This edition includes a detailed explanation of how a band works, the function of each instrument, by the voice of each instrumentalist that integrates the Sextet of the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve.
Trainees will have the chance to participate actively, playing one of several percussion instruments that the orchestra makes available, and those who are more advanced and practice a musical instrument may also participate. Improvisation will be the final chapter of this Sound Capsule, which will prove to be within everyone's reach.
Registration is free, but subject to reservations by telephone, through the number 289 844 112, on weekdays from 9:00 am to 12.30:14 pm and from 00:17 pm to 00:XNUMX pm.
The first edition of Cachopo Jazz ends in December, with a concert that is already part of the orchestra's Christmas initiatives. It will count with the presence of a Dutch singer. “Christmas Story” includes concerts in Tavira, Cachopo and Lagos: three of them with a full orchestra and two in a quintet (Cachopo and Tavira).
In October, the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve completed the first Algarve All Jazz Tour with three venues sold out (Loulé, Lagoa and Lagos) to receive Rick Margitza and Vânia Fernandes. This was a project with its genesis at Cineteatro Louletano, supported by RTCP/DGArtes, which joined Lagoa and Lagos.
