The Municipality of Castro Marim wants to develop canoeing and other water sports and, in partnership with Associação Naval do Guadiana, is carrying out demonstrations and canoe capture training at Cais de Castro Marim for 2nd and 3rd grade students. cycle of the Grouping of Schools.

«The objective is for this to be a modality that they can practice with regularity and quality, with prevalence for the training aspect», says the municipality in a note, recalling that with the installation of a floating pier in Castro Marim, in 2015, the adequate conditions, in terms of accessibility and safety, both for the embarkation and disembarkation of users, and for the development of nautical activities, such as fishing, stand up paddle or canoeing.

«We had our backs turned to the Guadiana River, which is one of the main development engines of the territory», underlined at the time the president of the Municipal Council of Castro Marim, Francisco Amaral.

Thus, with the aim of highlighting the important role that sport plays in the training of young people, the Municipality will approve an investment plan necessary for the practice of the modalities, in agreement with the entities involved, namely the Nature Reserve Co-Management Commission, whose president is the mayor Francisco Amaral.

One of the objectives is to provide the Cais de Castro Marim with the necessary infrastructure for canoeing and paddle tennis, such as modules for changing rooms and for the storage of boats/boards.
