Applications for cost-controlled housing in Faro already opened

Interested can apply until the end of the year

Citizens who want to apply for one of the 90 homes at controlled costs that the Chamber of Faro is building in the area of ​​Lejana de Baixo, next to Estrada da Senhora da Saúde and Rua Capitães de Abril (parallel to Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian), you can do so from today, November 2nd, until December 30th.

T1 (18), T2 (38) and T3 (34) apartments are in the competition, which will be distributed among different fringes of the population, with a special focus on younger citizens, up to 35 years old, to whom 60% of the houses are destined, but without forgetting people with disabilities (20%) and the so-called general contingent, which covers the rest of the population (20%).

The homes should be ready to move in by the end of 2023.

Applications can be made by delivering the documentation for the purpose at the Municipality's Single Desk, at the Citizen's Shop, at the Municipal Market of Faro, or by letter.

All apartments will have balconies and parking and dimensions stipulated by the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU). Housing prices range from 104.750 euros, in the case of T1, to 216.250 euros, in the case of T3, «costs well below market prices and also defined by the IHRU, which are around 2 thousand euros per square meter» , according to the Chamber of Faro.

“Citizens over 18 years of age may apply; national or foreign citizens as long as they hold a residence permit in national territory for five years or more; reside in the county of Faro for two years or more, uninterruptedly, or in the last ten years, having lived in the municipality for at least five years; that no member of the household is the owner or holder of another urban property title or fraction intended for housing; all members of the household over 18 years of age must have their situation regularized before the Tax and Customs Authority and Social Security, as well as before the Municipality of Faro and its municipal companies", describes the Municipality of Faro.

“The allocation of houses will be made, by drawing lots, at a public meeting on a date, time and place to be defined, which will be duly disclosed in a public notice, among all candidates who meet the conditions of access”, concludes the municipality.
