The Maritime Police of Vila Real de Santo António this morning seized 15 bales of narcotics, totaling about 595 kilos of hashish, which were on Santo António beach, near the mouth of the Guadiana River.
Following an alert received at around 06:45 am, informing that there were suspicious packages on the sand of Santo António beach, two vehicles and a vessel from the local Command of the Maritime Police of Vila Real de Santo António were immediately sent to the scene.
The Maritime Police confirmed the presence of seven bales of narcotics on the beach, and eight other bales were later located adrift at sea. A total of 15 bales of drugs, weighing around 35 kilos each, were seized.
The local Command of the Maritime Police of Vila Real de Santo António took care of the occurrence. The 15 bundles of hashish seized, with a total of about 595 kilos, will be delivered to the Judiciary Police, along with the respective file.
