VRSA: municipality and secretary of state evaluate requalification of the High Performance Center

Álvaro Araújo assured that, regardless of the amount of support, the municipality will advance towards the execution of works in the CAR

João Paulo Correia, Secretary of State for Youth and Sports, met this Friday, October 7th, with Álvaro Araújo, mayor of Vila Real de Santo António, and with Álvaro Leal, councilor responsible for the Sports and Youth, to assess the state's support for the requalification of the High Performance Center (CAR) in Vila Real de Santo António.

According to the mayor, the request for intervention by the secretary of state takes into account the financial situation of the municipality, aiming at support in the requalification and recovery of some infrastructures of the municipal Sports Complex.

«In order to achieve this goal, there will soon be a meeting between the Portuguese Athletics Federation, the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth and the City Council, which will present the CAR requalification project», continues the Chamber in note.

Álvaro Araújo also assured that, regardless of the amount of that support, the municipality will move forward, soon, to carry out works in the CAR.

«We plan to make some corrections in the Sports Complex, and it is now necessary to assess the support provided by the Secretary of State», he stressed, guaranteeing that the City Council will move forward «as soon as the specifications are prepared».

 

 

Also at the end of the meeting, the Secretary of State explained that his visit was aimed at “dealing with the necessary improvements in the High Performance Center, also promoting the capture of investment and the necessary return of international sporting events and the stages of selections in VRSA ».

Álvaro Araújo also announced that the municipality has in mind the creation of a youth center, the Casa da Juventude de VRSA.
