today is day two

Accustomed to making a single newspaper every day and openly online, going to a printed publication would not be, from the outset, the most obvious path.

I could start with the audacity that guided us from the first moment, with the generosity of so many or with the difficulties we had to overcome. But I prefer to speak, above all else, of the joy we share today in seeing that what we idealized was really born, took shape and is available to those who truly matter: our readers.

There are some dates that we keep, but the 19th of October will be forever marked in the history of Sul Informação: today, a wednesday, issue 1 of the magazine Dois, our new project, comes out on newsstands.

The idea began to take shape in 2020. A year later, the newspaper would have been in existence for 10 years. The date could not go unnoticed – “what if we did a magazine?”.

It was a new challenge; accustomed to making a single newspaper every day and openly online, going to a printed publication would not be, from the outset, the most obvious path.

But, just like 11 years ago, we decided to innovate. Do different. Mark a position. The Algarve needed a magazine with a new concept – we, Algarvians or residents, deserved it.

From the beginning, we were very aware that this had to be a unique magazine. When you go to newsstands today, you'll find a 96-page publication that combines graphic quality with the depth of its contents.

And there are several of them: first of all, an interview with Pedro Cabrita Reis, one of the greatest Portuguese plastic artists who also had the generosity to design the cover of this first issue.

Starting this adventure with a drawing by Pedro Cabrita Reis on the cover is a real dream come true.

We also have background reports on the phenomenon of digital nomads, the future of agriculture and a project that wants to revolutionize Culatra Island, a profile with the Algarve's Dino d'Santiago and a proposal to climb the mountains and let the '" Aunt Bia”

Thinking, conceiving and making this magazine, which is, for now, annual, was a real challenge. That we faced head on.

While Dois was born, we never stopped taking to you, every day, the Sul Informação.

The team was the same and it's impossible today not to feel a pleasant feeling of victory. The magazine is waiting for you, on newsstands throughout the Algarve, as well as in service areas along the A2 and at the main kiosks in Lisbon.

Read it, save it, give it away and share it.

And see also, on here, how was the launch party last friday.
