Aljezur wants to recover and manage the former tax guard post at Praia de Odeceixe

The idea is to create a tourist office, but not only

The Aljezur City Council wants to recover and start managing the former Tax Guard post at Praia de Odeceixe, to put it at the service of tourism and the population, and has already submitted an application in this sense to the skills transfer program “Scope of the Management of the Public Heritage”.

According to the municipality, the idea is to promote an «economically sustainable heritage enhancement project» in this building «with unique characteristics and a privileged location», which has been closed for a few years.

The application presented aims to guarantee a 50-year concession and has an estimated investment of around 150 thousand euros, «for the recovery and enhancement of this building, giving it various uses, such as tourist information, support for the summer at Praia de Odeceixe and a multipurpose space for meetings or other types of initiatives».

The Chamber also emphasizes that this is a building in an excellent location, but that it is “in urgent need of recovery intervention”.
