The IV cycle of concerts “Artis XXI”, which will have a total of seven shows, takes place from the 5th to the 28th of October, in the churches of the municipality of Lagoa and in the Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe (Raposeira, Vila do Bispo).
According to the association “Artis XXI”, “this year's edition proposes to highlight the written repertoire for wind instruments and encourage and value the rise of the work developed by women in this predominantly male field”.
«It also intends to combine the interpretation of musical works written for small groups in iconic and central spaces of the various local communities, as is the case of the religious built heritage of Lagoa», he adds.
An accordion workshop is also planned to be held on the 22nd of October, at the Lagoa Arts Conservatory, aimed at students of accordion teaching and given by Professor Paulo Jorge Ferreira. This workshop aims to motivate students to study this instrument and promote the accordion as a concert instrument.

There will also be a weekend dedicated exclusively to the accordion as an instrument that occupies an important place in Algarve culture.
The event will also include the Manhãs Musicais ARTIS XXI initiative, concerts that will take place in the four senior centers in Lagos.
Within this perspective, it will also continue to focus on young people, with exclusive educational concerts for schools, with open and commented rehearsals, thus promoting the creation of habits of cultural enjoyment.
This is an event produced by Artis XXI, supported by the Municipality of Lagoa, DGartes, Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, Folefest and Festa da Música – Musical Instruments, in partnership with Folefest.
The artistic direction is in charge of Elsa Mathei and the production direction by Rute Gomes.
