Municipality of Odemira promoted Open Week in Parishes

Next Open Week will be held between the 21st and 26th of November, in the Parishes of Colos, São Martinho das Amoreiras, Relíquias and Vale de Santiago

The municipal executive of Odemira promoted an Open Week in the parishes of Boavista dos Pinheiros, São Luís and São Salvador and Santa Maria, between the 12th and 16th of September, with the aim of promoting a closer and more participatory municipal management of the territory.

The third Open Week was dedicated to the central area of ​​the territory, which concentrates important responses and equipment. The initiative included thematic meetings with partner entities of the Municipality in the areas of Education, Social, Economy and Sport, the visit to works in progress and planned investments, the holding of a decentralized Chamber Meeting (at Sociedade Recreativa Sanluizense) and the decentralized attendance of the municipal executive.

In the areas of Social Intervention and Education, visits and meetings were held with TAIPA – Cooperative Organization for the Integrated Development of the Municipality of Odemira, APCO – Cerebral Palsy Association of Odemira, Casa do Povo de São Luís, Santa Casa da Misericórdia, Escola Professional of Odemira and Group of Schools of Odemira.

In Sports, the program included meetings with Clube Fluvial Odemirense, Juventude Clube Boavista, Sport Clube Odemirense and the Sports and Cultural Center of Odemira.

In the area of ​​Economic Development, ACL – Associação Portuguesa de Criadores de Breça de Caça Limousine received the executive to give an account of its dynamics.

The tourism sector paid attention to the holding of meetings between the Municipal Executive, the President of the Municipal Assembly and the Rota Vicentina Association, Casas Brancas and entrepreneurs in the tourist sector, to analyze the return of activity in this post-pandemic period, survey of needs and get to know the projects under development to make Odemira a territory increasingly recognized for its quality offer.

The program also included a meeting with the hunters' associations of the three parishes, in a consultation action that aims to contribute and strengthen the municipality's hunting activity.

Several infrastructures were visited, such as the Municipal Stadium of Boa Esperança, Multipurpose Pavilion, Industrial Zone and Municipal Nursery in Boavista dos Pinheiros, the AMBILITAL Transfer Station in Odemira, the Casa Branca Pier, the work of the Local Health Extension, the current space of EB1 and the Polisportivo de São Luís.

The WWTP - Wastewater Treatment Station of this parish was also visited, with the presence of the Administration of AgdA - Águas Públicas do Alentejo and a group of citizens of the parish, to reinforce the need for investment in new infrastructure and demonstrate the commitment of the Municipality in its implementation.

The Serra de São Domingos Viewpoint also received a field visit, with the presence of representatives of the Navigator company, with the aim of developing a joint strategy that enhances the richness of the landscape and the diversity of local resources.

The mayor of Odemira (Hélder Guerreiro) was accompanied by the councilors and presidents of the Parish Councils of Boavista dos Pinheiros (Miguel Lourenço), São Luís (Manuel Campos) and São Salvador and Santa Maria (Mário Santa Bárbara).

The leaders of the municipal services participated in one of the days of the initiative, which culminated in a meeting to assess the municipal activity between the Mayor, the councilors and the presidents of the Parish Councils of the municipality.

The Open Weeks in the Parishes are a participatory democracy initiative, under the governance program “Odemira 21_25” and which assumes citizen participation as the basis of municipal management and the intervention of local authorities in the development process of the municipality.

The next Open Week will take place between the 21st and 26th of November, in the Parishes of Colos, São Martinho das Amoreiras, Relíquias and Vale de Santiago.
