Faro marks World Tourism Day with free admission to museums

“Rethinking Tourism” is the motto proposed for this year

City tours and free admission to museums are two of the initiatives of the Municipality of Faro aimed at residents, national and foreign visitors to celebrate World Tourism Day, next Tuesday, 27 September. 

Under the motto “Rethinking Tourism”, proposed by the World Tourism Organization, the municipality, through its Tourism Promotion division, proposes a guided visit to the historic center of Faro, aimed at all tourists, visitors and residents of the Municipality who will have the opportunity to visit and learn about all the details of this heritage and places of tourist interest in the city, with emphasis on Largo da Sé, the Episcopal Palace, the Cathedral, the Museum Municipality of Faro and the Arch of Rest.

This action, whose starting point is Arco da Vila, will take place in the morning at 10 am and in the afternoon at 00 pm, in Portuguese and English.

Visits will be free of charge, but mandatory registration is required via email to [email protected], until the 23rd of September. In addition, on that day, access to the Municipal Museum of Faro and the Algarve Regional Museum for all residents and visitors.

Also on the 27th, the Municipality, through the Department of Social Development, will also provide a group of elderly people with the opportunity to walk around Faro by tourist train. This circuit, starting at Jardim Manuel Bivar, will allow these citizens to enjoy a unique experience that visitors to our city are so passionate about.
