The Chamber of Albufeira presented the city's medal to the athletes and staff of Albufeira Futsal Clube for the recent conquest of the Algarve Supercup in this modality.
On the 27th of August, the team from Albufeira beat Louletano by 4-2, lifting the Supercup, a trophy that joins the Algarve Cup won in the last edition.
«Albufeira is proud of these champions», said José Carlos Rolo, mayor, at this ceremony.
The mayor also mentioned the good example that this team gives to the younger ones.
“There is no knowledge that any young person who invests his time in sport has a bad academic result, quite the opposite”, he considered.
Cristiano Cabrita, vice president and responsible for the Sports department, assured that the executive will always be ready to support the team.
In this path, Carlos Gabriel, president of Albufeira Futsal, thanked all the support «from the City Council, without which we would not be able to reach this level».
In addition to Albufeira Futsal Clube, other teams have been recognized with the city medal by the municipal executive, as is the case of FC Ferreiras (champion of the 1st Division of Seniors District football, guaranteeing the promotion of division to the Portuguese Championship) and do CBA – Clube de Basquete de Albufeira (2nd place in the National Basketball Championship of the 2nd division of the South Zone and promotion to the National Basketball Championship of the 1st division CNB1).
