Crew member with symptoms of heart attack rescued by the Navy off Portimão

During the night of this Monday, August 15, the Navy coordinated a medical rescue of the merchant ship “Fri Tide”, sailing off Portimão, due to symptoms of a heart attack presented by one of the crew.

The information that one of the crew needed medical assistance was received at 18:57, “with CODU-MAR confirming the urgent need for evacuation”, reveals the Navy in a note published on the official website.

Thus, a boat was immediately sent from the Ferragudo Lifeguard Station to rescue the patient and take the patient to the Portimão Marina, from where he was then transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The operation was coordinated by the Navy, through the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Lisbon, in conjunction with the Captaincy of the Port of Portimão and the Center for Guidance for Urgent Patients Mar.
