The Union of Parishes of Faro is "concerned" about the fire in the “garbage” in Vale da Venda (Almancil) due to the "plume of smoke that invades the city of Faro, with strong intensity, causing serious inconvenience to the population».

In a press release, the municipality "calls for the mobilization of all appropriate and necessary means for the rapid extinction of this fire that is affecting the health and quality of life of more than 50 people from Faro".

This fire at the company's waste management center Inertegarve started last Thursday, July 14th.

The Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission has already suspended, however, the license of this plant, but the fire still continues.

According to the TSF, CCDR plans to install “an air quality measuring machine on the site, but so far has not done so, claiming that, in accordance with public administration rules, it had to submit a proposal to three firms” .

"Only one responded and the process will move forward in the coming days", adds the TSF.

According to the Union of Parishes of Faro, the Algarve capital was, 15 days ago, appointed by the European Environment Agency, as the second city in Europe with the best air quality, being surpassed only by Umeå, in Sweden, «a distinction that can now be compromised with this incident» .
