New fire breaks out at a time when the one in Gambelas/Quinta do Lago is not yet under control

Four air assets are fighting a fire that broke out at 12:53 pm this Wednesday, July 13, near the Convent of Nossa Senhora do Desterro, right next to the village of Monchique.

Ao Sul Informação, Paulo Alves, mayor of Monchique, said that the weather conditions are “very difficult” due to the “strong wind”.

Even so, the mayor proved to be «confident» in the response of the means that are already in place – and in the rest that will arrive.

This new focus of concern comes at a time when the fire in Gambelas/Quinta do Lago is not yet under control.

Furthermore, there is a relocation of air resources to Monchique.

This fire is being fought by 62 operatives and 15 vehicles.
