New direction of the Olhão Delegation of the Red Cross has already taken office

The new direction of the Olhão Delegation of the Portuguese Red Cross took office last Saturday, June 28, at 15:00.

The new direction succeeds the Administrative Commission that has governed since October 22, 2020, with a term of 18 months, chaired by Joaquim Ramalho.

The new management reappoints only two of the three elements of the Administrative Commission – Joaquim Ramalho, in the position of president, and Célia Neves, non-executive member.

The new board will also be composed by Ana Isabel Moleiro Jacinto Ferreira, vice president, Alberto Manuel Dias Mestre, vice president, Rui Augusto Martins Cardoso, treasurer, and Gertrudes Rosa Dias Rosado Souto D'Assis, member.

The inauguration was presided over by the Regional Delegate of the Portuguese Red Cross, by the Mayor of Olhão and by the director of the District Center for Social Security.

In his inauguration speech, the president pointed out that the new management's intention was "to continue the humanitarian work that the delegation has been carrying out for decades, but also to promote, according to the availability of existing resources, the strengthening of internal capacity to expand the areas of social support to the most disadvantaged fellow citizens of Olhão, proposing, for this purpose, to strengthen partnerships with all entities involved in local social development and, also, to promote greater participation of the Olhão community in humanitarian action and in the projection of principles and values ​​of humanitarianism that the International Red Cross Movement has pursued for more than 150 years», emphasizes the Red Cross.
