Two of the three prizes awarded at national level came to the Algarve

The school groups Poeta António Aleixo, from Portimão, and João de Deus, from Faro, were the winners of the 3rd Phase of the “Fazer em Rede: Boas Práticas” award, awarded annually by the School Libraries Network to three good practices of school libraries.

In addition to the Algarve groups, only one more was awarded, across the country, this school year: the Basic and Secondary School of Arrifana, in Santa Maria da Feira.

In the case of the school grouping of Portimão, the prize was awarded to the project “Desafios de Escrita”, launched during the first confinement and which aimed to “maintain contact with students and teachers, through an activity developed at a distance and publicly disclosed in digital media. of school libraries.

«The interest and participation of the community in this initiative, dictated its continuity, even after the confinement», according to the School Libraries Network.

«The activity consists of launching writing challenges, regular and appealing, captivating the target audience for participation. The texts produced, in each challenge, are published online by school libraries», he added.

Already in Faro, the award-winning project was “Páginas de Ciência”, developed by the library of Escola Secundária João de Deus, which promoted «an action to promote the reading of informative books, in the area of ​​science, aimed at secondary school students».

«Participants were challenged to read a popular science book of their choice and to produce a video record, in which they assumed the role of booktubers, presenting a critical appraisal of the work read», describe the promoters of the prize.

«The librarian teacher publicized the project in the Portuguese subject, in all 12th grade classes. The tutorials “How to talk about Science in three lessons” and “El uso educativo del BookTubers” were made available. The disciplines of Biology, Physics and Economics were also involved in this project», they concluded.
