Aljezur exhibits “Protected Marine Areas of the Southwest Coast”

The exhibition then proceeds to the municipalities of Odemira and Vila do Bispo

“Marine Protected Areas of the Southwest Coast”. This is the subject of a book and an exhibition at the Associação de Pescadores do Portinho da Arrifana and Costa Vicentina (APPACV), in Aljezur.

The traveling exhibition will be on display in the municipality of Aljezur for the next three months, then on to the municipalities of Odemira and Vila do Bispo.

Both the book and the exhibition present some of the main results obtained in the MARSW project.

The emphasis of the information presented is given to themes relevant to the knowledge and conservation of the Marine Park of the Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.

Information on species with conservation interest, such as the grouper, or with commercial interest, as you perceive it, from habitats considered priority for conservation, such as underwater caves, or from human activities, such as commercial fishing, which are an integral part of the coastal region covered by this marine protected area, are some of the topics covered in the exhibition.

This work was developed within the scope of the MARSW project, whose scientific coordination and execution were ensured by a consortium formed by the MARE poles of the University of Évora and the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, and by CCMAR (University of the Algarve).

The project was co-financed by the Operational Program for Sustainability and Efficiency in the Use of Resources (POSEUR), and co-financed by the Environmental Fund and the Municipalities of Aljezur, Odemira and Vila do Bispo, having been promoted by LPN in partnership with ICNF.

This presentation had the presence and intervention of leaders, such as the presidents of the Municipality of Aljezur, ICNF and APPACV.
