Discoveries Wax Museum, in Lagos, will remain closed

After the premises were sold “for unaffordable values”

The Discoveries Wax Museum, in Lagos, will remain closed, after the facilities were sold “for unbearable values”.

The news was this Sunday, June 26, sent to the newsroom by Nestor Guerreiro, managing partner of the Museum, who stresses that the «museum tried to acquire the space in question, but it was sold for unbearable prices».

The auction of the shops in Marina de Lagos, where the Discoveries Wax Museum was located, ended on the 25th of May.

«Unfortunately, after a year and a half of its closure, the Museu de Cera dos Descobrimentos is still unable to find a new space for its re-installation, not being able to welcome its visitors again with open arms, despite receiving many requests for this purpose, either of senior groups, schools or families", reads the statement.

Opened on the 27th of October 2014, The Discoveries Wax Museum, in the city of Lagos, was considered by many to be a reference museum in the Algarve region, having received thousands of visitors from all over the world, families and schools.

«Considering the added value that the museum represents, as a structuring equipment in the area of cultural/tourist entertainment and in its contribution to the diversification and qualification of the tourist offer in the Algarve», the Museum requests the collaboration, «of all those who can help» , so that a new space can be found for its reinstallation.
