The Escola Sócio Desportiva de Vila Real de Santo António won the «Copa Alma 2022», organized by the Real Madrid Foundation, a tournament that brought together the teams and schools that stood out in the work of social and sports integration promoted by the Madrid emblem.
In this eighth edition of the «Copa Alma», the Escola Sócio Desportiva de VRSA was the winner together with the delegation from Spain since, having had a tie in the main requirements of the tournament (2-2 in the sporting result, 3-3 in the values and 1-1 on the cards), the organization decided to award the two formations.
The initiative, which brings together the schools that have best fulfilled the objectives defined by the Merengue Foundation – whose merit is already recognized around the world and rewards values such as solidarity, motivation or equality – took place in Madrid and was attended by the delegations from Portugal, Spain, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Morocco.
Copa Alma also had the support of the UEFA Foundation for Children and allowed schools to “put into practice all the work carried out during the year, both in terms of football and values”, emphasizes the VRSA municipality.
In this tournament, in addition to the sporting result, it is also crucial to obtain white cards (which recognize the good attitudes of the players in the competition) and the demonstration of the seven values that make up the philosophy of the Real Madrid Foundation.

The Real Madrid Foundation's VRSA Social Sport School was founded in 2011 through a protocol established with the VRSA City Council.
This, which was Real Madrid's first national school, encompasses football and basketball and the methodologies used aim to reward merit, taking into account factors such as school grades, behavior and student attendance.
