Integrated Management Committee for Rural Fires met in Vale Maria Dias

At the recently inaugurated Advanced Civil Protection Unit in Vale Maria Dias, in the municipality of Loulé

The newly opened Advanced Civil Protection Unit of Vale Maria Dias, in the municipality of Loulé, hosted this Tuesday, June 14, a joint working session of the technical group of the Regional Commission for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires.

The objective of the initiative was «the discussion of the project sheets that are an integral part of the Regional Action Program for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires, a strategic instrument that is based on the enhancement and maintenance of rural spaces, modification of behavior in terms of strengthening the mechanisms of surveillance and focus on “fire education” and efficient risk management», says the Loulé City Council in a statement.

On behalf of the Municipality of Loulé were the technicians of the Forestry Office, a service that has been directly monitoring these activities, particularly in the territories of the interior of the municipality.

The purpose of the Agency for the Integrated Management of Rural Fires is to «ensure the implementation and functioning of the system, to protect people and natural and built heritage, in the face of serious rural fires».

Its mission is to accelerate the transition to the integrated management of rural dwellings, involving institutions and society, through strategic coordination and assessment and seeking the sustainability of the system.
