Air Force Band performs in Monchique this Saturday

To mark the 33rd anniversary of Radar Station No.

Air Force Music Band will perform in Monchique this Saturday, June 18, at 21:00 pm, to mark the 33rd anniversary of Radar Station N.º 1 (ER1), located at 902 meters of altitude, in Foia. 

The performance takes place at Largo de S. Sebastião and admission is free.

The Portuguese Air Force Music Band was created on December 31, 1957 and currently depends on the Air Force Chief of Staff and all its activities are coordinated by his office.

The Câmara de Monchique also emphasizes in a statement that "ER1's mission is to guarantee the readiness of the means
surveillance and detection and performs the maintenance, conservation and administration of the technical installations in Fóia (ER1), of the installations in Valinhos, Sagres (Ponta D'Alheta and Relvinha) and also of the Bairro da Força Aérea (Monchique), whose area surrounding the Vila de Monchique gives it a quality trait».

The initiative to celebrate the anniversary of Radar Station N.º 1 is of an institutional and protocol nature and has the support of the Municipality of Monchique.
