Algarve Landscape Sound Archive will be at the Sound Experiences congress

Scientific congress takes place on the 27th and 28th of June, in Braga

Carlos Norton, responsible for the Algarve Landscape Sound Archive (ASPA), will be one of the speakers at the scientific congress Sound Experiences: Memory, Creativity and Participation, which takes place in Braga, on the 27th and 28th of June.

Carlos Norton will present the lecture “Where to point microphones: a key issue in soundscape recording” (Where to point the microphones: an essential issue in soundscape recording).

The lecture and the respective scientific article are the result of the long experience in the construction of the ASPA and more recently of the Castro Marim Sonoro Archive, which is part of the Particular Universal project.

ASPA, a project that was born in December 2016 (about which we tell you everything here), has been a reference in the field of sound archives for being «one of the most extensive and consistent archives of its kind», an example now for the scientific community.

Created by Carlos Norton through Fungo Azul, ASPA has been continuously collecting since 2016 with the support of the Algarve Regional Directorate of Culture, surpassing four hundred recordings throughout the Algarve region.
