Sul, Sol e Sal and Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation come together to «animate the books»

This is «an action of proximity to the public of Casa do Meio-Dia and, on the other hand, to promote reading and reorganization of the Foundation's bibliographic collection»

«To animate books, new and used, circulating them from Querença to Casa do Meio-Dia, in Loulé». This is the premise of a book circulation campaign by the publisher Sul, Sol e Sal and the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation (FMVG).

The two entities joined forces, giving new life to the books.

This is «an action of proximity to the public of Casa do Meio-Dia and, on the other hand, to promote reading and reorganization of the Foundation's bibliographic collection», explain the entities.

Sul, Sol e Sal has been promoting several cultural meetings in the area of books, but also music, painting and photography in the new space, Casa do Meio-Dia, located in the heart of Loulé.

The FMVG, dedicated to the dissemination of anthropological and ethnographic studies by the ethnologist and professor at the Faculty of Arts of Lisbon that gives it its name (Manuel Viegas Guerreiro, 1912-1997), hosts, in addition to cultural meetings, the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Museum Library, the Luís Guerreiro Center for Algarve Studies (CEA LG), which holds, in the interior of Loulé, one of the most extensive and rich collections of works produced in and about the Algarve.

As a result of regular donations and the necessary sorting of works, the Foundation has a set of used books that do not meet the criteria for inclusion in CEA LG.

The initiative brings these books closer to new owners: buyers of publications with the seal of Sul, Sol e Sal or other publishers with representation in the bookstore's space.

In the spirit of typography and to mark the campaign, two handcrafted stamps were designed, one red and one black, with the insignia of the partner entities.
