Rugby Clube de Loulé (RCL) rose to the 1st division this Saturday, May 14, after beating Belas Rugby Clube, by 12-5, in the final of the II National Division championship.
Loulé's players, who were the runners-up in the South Zone in the first stage of CN2, beat the Sintra team in a game played at the Estádio Nacional do Jamor, in Lisbon, thus moving up to Division I (the equivalent of the second tier of the sport) .
After the victory, Loulé City Council left a message of congratulations to the club coached by Max Evans, former Scottish international.
«The Loulé City Council congratulates RCL – Rugby Clube de Loulé, for the great victory in the final, and promotion to the 1st division of the respective modality», reads a note published on the Facebook page.
