PSD requires compliance with the law that establishes a 50% discount on ex-SCUT tolls

PSD deputies elected by the Circle of Faro proposed amendments to the Draft Law on the State Budget for 2022

PSD deputies elected by the Circle of Faro proposed amendments to the Draft Law on the State Budget for 2022, in order to ensure that the calculation basis from which discounts are made on various highways in the interior of the country is “the most advantageous for taxpayers”.

In a statement, the party states that, "despite the law defining a discount of 50%, the Socialist Executive decided to revoke the ordinance that defined the cost of the toll at that time, to apply the discount on a 2011 value, causing the effective discount is actually less than 35%'.

In the case of the Algarve, the application of 50% discounts on the A22 makes it possible to reduce, according to the PSD, considerably reduce usage costs and will facilitate circulation in the region.

«On the other hand, encouraging traffic on this road means removing traffic from the EN125, long considered one of the most dangerous roads in the country and where every year dozens of people lose their lives», he added.

Deputies Luís Gomes, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos also intend to see compliance with the law this year, enshrined in the State Budget for 2022, which provides for a discount on the amount to be paid at tolls in the case of electric and non-polluting vehicles.

The Social Democrats therefore demand from the Government that this incentive be implemented one month after the entry into force of the State Budget for 2022, “as it represents an important step in the decarbonization of the country and in the transition to electric vehicles”.
