CÍVIS celebrates 25 years with a ceremony at Lethes

CÍVIS is a non-profit, non-governmental organization of interest and social solidarity, headquartered in Faro

CÍVIS – Association for the Deepening of Citizenship will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a ceremony on Sunday, May 15, at 16:00 pm, at Teatro Lethes, in Faro. 

This association completes today (May 9th), Europe day, 25 years of existence, but it will celebrate the anniversary only next Sunday.

«This session is intended not only to highlight and celebrate the role of CÍVIS in promoting active citizenship over these 25 years, but also to promote joint reflection, among peers, on the role of citizens and associations in the various domains of society. and the main challenges in deepening citizenship and democracy in the near future», says the association.

This ceremony will be attended by Admiral Martins Guerreiro, captain of Abril, who will deliver the inaugural speech, and there will also be a moment of music and poetry, in charge of Afonso Dias, musician, composer, actor and poet, activist against the dictatorship and constituent deputy .

Among the invited entities, representatives of the Recreation and Cultural Association of Musicians (ARCM), Cineclube de Faro (CCF), Glocal-Faro, Movement in Support of the Problem of AIDS (MAPS), Grupo Coral Ossónoba, Companhia de Teatro do Algarve (ACTA), João de Deus School Group and Academia Cidadã.

During this meeting, CÍVIS associates who, over the last 25 years, have made their contribution to the deepening of citizenship will also be honored.
