Unmarked fishing gear seized in Praia Verde

In total, 90 buckets were seized, added to about 1350 meters of cable

The GNR seized this Tuesday, May 17, fishing gear that was unmarked and unmarked, in Praia Verde, municipality of Castro Marim.

The authorities say that, in total, 90 buckets were seized, added to about 1350 meters of cable.

«Following the action, all the octopus found inside the traps were immediately returned to their natural habitat», says the GNR.

Guarda recalls that the marking and identification of commercial fishing gear is a legal obligation, in compliance with national and community standards, and failure to do so is punishable by a fine of between 150 and 5000 euros.
