«At a time when the number of years of democracy equals those of dictatorship, the municipality intends to highlight the 48 years of the April Revolution, a historic landmark for our country that opened the doors of democracy and freedom», for which «it is the intention of the municipality to , through the proposed programme, to convey the importance and meaning of this historic event, especially to the younger generation, not forgetting neither the journey nor all those who fought so that, today, the ideals and spirit of April continue to be a reality", reinforces the mayor.
And the commemorative program begins even with the youngest, with the holding of the workshop “Dama de Abril”, by Telma Santos, which will take place on the 20th of April and for a month, at Escola Secundária de Silves (ESS).
On the 21st of April, the play “Romance do 25 de Abril”, by Teatro Mosca, adapting the homonymous book by João Pedro Mésseder and Alex Gozblau, will show elementary school students how the most remarkable moments in the recent history of our country were. parents.
The presentation of the book “They were in the prisons of fascism”, by URAP – União de Resistentes Antifascistas Portugueses, will mark the 22nd of April with two sessions, one addressed to the educational community, at 10:25 am at ESS, and another addressed to the general public. , at 21:00, at the Municipal Library of Silves.
As part of the commemorations of the 14th anniversary of the Municipal Library of Silves, on the 23rd of April there will be, at 15:00, Music for Babies and Children and, at 18:00, the recital “For Santa Liberdade”, by Afonso Dias. The day will end with the concert “The substance of time”, by Luís Galrito and António Hilário, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório, at 21 pm.
The program continues on the 24th of April, with the concert “A Herança do Andarilho” that will bring the UHF to Silves at 21:30.
The 25th of April will be marked by the Rua da Banda da Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense, at 9:30 am, in Silves, followed by the usual Solemn Session of the Municipal Assembly, in the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho, at 10:00 am. From 11:45 am, Luís Galrito will be the protagonist of a musical note. This day's program will culminate with the play “Qual a cor da Liberdade”, by Teatro Independente de Loures, at 15:30 pm, at Teatro Mascarenhas Gregório.
Moreover, from 24 April to 25 May, the Town Hall will host the bibliographic exhibition “Non-Free Books”, which can be visited from 9:00 am to 16:00 pm.
