Maritime Police close illegal purification plant and seize 712 kilos of oysters in Tavira

The oysters, as they are still alive, were returned to their natural habitat.

The Maritime Police closed this Wednesday, 20 April, an illegal purifier and seized 712 kilos of oysters, in Ria Formosa, in the Tavira area. 

This purifier, with a network to capture water from the Ria Formosa, did not have “the proper licensing, containing around 700 kilos of oysters”.

The oysters, as they are still alive, were returned to their natural habitat.

Five elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Tavira were involved in this action, supported by two vehicles and a vessel, as well as two elements of the Food and Economic Security Authority and two elements of the Tax and Customs Authority.
