In São Brás de Alportel, work is underway to install bicycle racks in the school park.
This is an integrated measure in the strategy to promote mobility and combat climate change, carried out within the scope of the General Plan for Investments in School Infrastructures, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles, defend the environment and combat the sedentary lifestyle of students and teaching and non-teaching professionals who attend schools in the county.
«In recent years, urban interventions carried out in the municipality have taken into account the importance of mobility and accessibility for all citizens, enabling the disabled, but also the elderly, people who use baby strollers and all those who have some difficulty in their mobility to access and move with equal opportunity», says the municipality in a statement.
In the works carried out recently, the municipality has made efforts to improve the safety conditions of pedestrians and other users of the village's roads with the aim of encouraging young people to travel in environmentally friendly means of transport, such as bicycles, scooters and skateboards.
