History of Olhão will be taught to teachers

Olhão Municipal Museum becomes a classroom for training on the county's past

“The past of the local environment: Olhão” will be taught again at the Municipal Museum

Teachers from Olhão will learn about the county's past, in a course that will start on May 3, at the Municipal Museum. 

The training is carried out in 18 hours on a face-to-face basis, aimed at teachers in groups 100 and 110, giving priority to teachers who teach in schools in the municipality of Olhão.

The course addresses various topics such as territory, archeology and built heritage, maritime history and heritage, the need to know and preserve existing heritage or digital technologies associated with the maintenance of this heritage. The legends of Olhão and the appreciation of the diversity of ethnicities and cultures in the community or the revitalization of the gastronomic heritage of the county will also be highlighted.

«The trainers of this course are the technicians of the Municipal Museum Hugo Oliveira, Sandra Romba, Ana Martinho and Veralisa Brandão; Carla Assis, from the Ria Formosa Training Center; José Joaquim Dias Marques, from the University of Algarve; Nuno António, from MOJU – Youth Movement in Olhão; Cristiana Nascimento, from the Municipal Education Department and the actor and director Marco Paiva, from the artistic creation platform Terra Amarela», explains the municipality, in a press release.

Registration, with 20 places available, is open until April 22 at platform of the Ria Formosa Training Center.
