The Slavey Quartet, the Female Choir Other Voices, the Jubilate Deo Choir, the Grupo Coral da Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense and the Coral Ideias do Levante, are the formations that will star in another edition of the Semana Coral de Lagoa, which will take place from the 15th to 22 de Maio in different areas of the county.
The 2022 edition will again include the “Lagoa a Cantar” project, under which various workshops will be promoted at various levels, masterclasses, awareness-raising sessions and lectures.
All concerts are free, except the one by the Slavey Quartet, which will close on the 22nd of May, a Sunday, at 17:00, in the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium.
This musical formation was founded in 1991 by Nadka Karadjova, «world famous folk singer», according to Ideias do Levante, which organizes the festival in partnership with Câmara de Lagoa.
The quartet is Svetla Ivanova, Anna Vitkova, Lilyana Galevska and Vanya Vakari.
«The characteristics of the singers' vocal timbre - soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto and alto, along with the mastery of an unusual technique that sustains the precision and balance of their voices, allow perfect harmony and, at the same time, they are warm voices. , seductive, that enchant those who listen to them», describes the association.
«The Slavey Quartet presents in its concerts a program of traditional and folk music from Bulgaria with original arrangements by some of the best Bulgarian composers and in solemn events another program with religious themes from the Slavic Church from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century», he adds.

On the 15th of May, at 17:00, a Sunday, the Coro Jubilate Deo, from Tavira, and the Coral Ideias do Levante, from Lagoa, perform at the Igreja Matriz de Lagoa.
On the following Wednesday, the 18th, at 21:00 pm, the Grupo Coral da Sociedade Filármonica Silvense performs in the Chapel of the Centro Cultural Convento S. José.
On Saturday, the 21st, at 17:00 pm, the concert will be led by the Female Choir Other Voices and the Ideias do Levante Choir.
According to José Carlos Bago d'Uva, mentor of the initial project, the Semana Coral de Lagoa is «a meeting open to the sharing of musical experiences and unforgettable moments of conviviality, it is the annual occasion in which the Municipality of Lagoa sounds “the 4 voices” the (en)/singing of vocal polyphony, by lands “do Levante”».
