Farense beat Mafra 1-0 in the 30th round of the II Football League, played this Saturday, April 16, at Estádio S. Luís.
After the defeat against Casa Pia on the last day, the Algarve team took to the field knowing that a victory represented an important step towards maintenance.
The first – and only goal – came early in the game.
Mayambela combined with Madi, crossed low and returned to Madi who only had to pull over for 1-0. 14 minutes had been played.
At 36′, Mafra could have equalized, in a good move by Rodrigo Martins, but the cross/shot stopped in Defendi's gloves.
Close to the break, a tie was in sight, but Okitokanjo's shot, after a corner hit on the right, hit the Farense goal post.
In the second half, the match went into a lukewarm tune.
Even so, the Algarve knew how to manage the result, as Mafra never truly threatened Farense's advantage.
With this victory, Vasco Faísca's team reached 40 points and climbed to 9th place in the II Liga.
