Integrated Device ensures enhanced security in the Moto GP Grand Prix

Everything is in place in terms of security for this media competition

246 operatives and 75 vehicles from the different Civil Protection Agents and a helicopter from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority embody the Integrated Protection and Relief Device mobilized for the Portuguese Moto GP Grand Prix at the Algarve International Circuit, in Portimão.

The Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command (CREPC) of the Algarve, in conjunction with the Municipal Civil Protection Service and the Portimão Fire Department, established an Operational Command Post to coordinate the different forces of the Fire Departments of the Algarve and the Alentejo, the Portuguese Red Cross, the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and the internal response structure of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in «permanent coordination» with the promoter of the event and the Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR), a force of security responsible for the component security, explains the CREPC.

Over the course of three days, this international reference event, which benefits from a worldwide media projection, deserves «differentiated monitoring by the structures and agents of the emergency and civil protection system in the Algarve region, optimizing the articulation with the Integrated Medical Emergency System. (SIEM) through the permanent connection at the Command Post and Race Control with the INEM Urgent Patients Orientation Center, and the Hospital Center
University of the Algarve, allowing a timely and coordinated response to all occurrences recorded in the event's area of ​​interest».

In terms of logistic support, the Planning, Command and Communications Vehicle and the Emergency Telecommunications Vehicle assigned to CREPC Algarve were also pre-positioned, implementing a reinforcement of the network in the Integrated System of Emergency and Security Networks of Portugal (SIRESP) and ensuring a response capacity by E-REDES with regard to a quick replacement of the electricity supply in case of need.

In addition to the prevention device, intervention teams from the Fire Department and the Emergency Protection and Relief Unit (UEPS) of the GNR were allocated in patrolling actions in the vicinity of the enclosure, anticipating the ability to respond to possible occurrences.
