Algarve deputies from the PSD will question the Government about the Central Hospital

«The Socialist Party came with the greatest pride to say that the construction of the new hospital is now a path of no return because it is in the Government Program. We will be here to make it so», says the PSD

The Algarve deputies, elected by the PSD, will question the Government about the construction of the Central Hospital of the Algarve, a “work promised seven years ago, but which still remains on paper”.

«The construction of the new hospital in the Algarve, Hospital Central, is a promise with more than two decades and António Costa has been defining it as a priority in the electoral program in recent years. It was like this in 2015, in 2019, in 2021 and now in the Government Program”, says Luís Gomes, PSD deputy.

In the parliamentarian's opinion, «what we see is that the project is nothing more than an idea, a proposal, which the Government does not truly defend. It is just an electoral flag that António Costa uses on his trips to the Algarve, but which he keeps in the drawer when he returns to Lisbon. In this legislature, we will do everything to ensure that the Prime Minister fulfills his promise ».

The PSD deputies elected by the Algarve also admit to calling the Minister of Health to Parliament to find out what state the project is in, as well as to know the real projects for the region since, according to the Social Democrats, «in the of Government, the measures indicated are the same that had already been presented in 2015 and 2019 and that were not implemented, including during the passage of Jamila Madeira by the Government».

«The Socialist Party came with the greatest pride to say that the construction of the new hospital is now a path of no return because it is in the Government Program. We will be here to make it so, because the PS and the Government are excellent at finding the most varied excuses to justify their inaction and their unwillingness to provide the Algarve with the necessary means to respond to the needs of the population», adds Luís Gomes .

Luís Gomes, Rui Cristina and Ofélia Ramos defend, moreover, «a new hospital equipped with all the necessary human and technical resources so that it can fulfill its mission in the region. In addition to the new Hospital Central do Algarve, there must be a reinforcement of staff and an update of the equipment of the Hospitals of Portimão and Lagos in order to respond to the resident population and to all those who visit the Algarve».

«The Algarve is a topic that is practically omitted in the current Government Programme, without measures to solve the problems of mobility, education, health and that does not respond to the social problems of the region», they conclude.
