Construction of the Algarve Central Hospital is part of the Government's program

For PS/Algarve, the registration of the construction of this unit in the program is a «path of no return»

The construction of the Algarve Central Hospital is included in the Government program that will begin to be discussed this Thursday, April 7, in the Assembly of the Republic.

For PS/Algarve, the inclusion of the construction of this unit in the program is a «path of no return» and responds to «the most important of commitments» of the Algarve socialists.

Luís Graça, president of PS/Algarve, also underlines that the reinforcement of the National Health Service, namely in terms of proximity health care, is another aspect that PS Algarve sees as very positive: «health is the priority of the our priorities”.

«We have to move forward with the new Central Hospital as a highly differentiated response element in terms of health care, but we have to simultaneously take advantage of the financial resources made available to Portugal by the European Union to improve the quality and responsiveness of health care primary", he says.

In this context, PS Algarve highlights the commitments made in the Government Program in terms of extending to all health centers (ACES) the capacity to carry out the most common complementary means of diagnosis and therapy, as well as the creation of more health units seeking to ensure that 80% of the population is covered by this type of proximity response and the review of incentives for the establishment of doctors in deprived areas.

The Algarve socialists also underline the expressed commitment to the implementation of the Regional Water Efficiency Plan for the Algarve, in order to guarantee quality and quantity of water in the region and the coincidence of objectives in relation to the conclusion of the process of transferring competences to the CCDRs, «with the ultimate goal of advancing in 2024 with the referendum on regionalization that will lead to the creation of the much-desired Administrative Region of the Algarve».
