“Cuida-te”: Academic Association promotes series of screenings in Penha, Gambelas and Portimão

This initiative also has the support of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth

The Sports Office of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg) promotes, on the 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st and 26th of April, a series of screenings and counseling, on the three campuses of UAlg, within the scope of the “Care- you". 

According to the AAUAlg, there will be “screenings for blood glucose, total cholesterol, blood pressure, HIV and vision, assessment and technical advice aimed at starting or maintaining a regular physical activity practice; body assessment, analyzing various parameters, such as: weight, percentage of fat, lean mass and water in the body, caloric expenditure at rest, metabolic age, visceral fat and body perimeters, nutritional counseling, sexual and reproductive health counseling , COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) screenings and a skin cancer prevention and information campaign.

On the 18th and 19th of April, the teams will be at the Penha Campus, on the 20th and 21st at the Gambelas Campus and, on the 26th, at the Portimão Campus, always at the same time, from 10:30 am to 16:30 pm.

This edition (the sixth) will also feature free complementary events, but with mandatory registration, such as lectures, a showcooking and group classes.

Screening and counseling will be carried out by accredited technicians from the different partners involved in the action (SASUAlg, Escola Superior de Saúde, Escola Superior de Educação e Comunicação, ARS Algarve, CAD Team, Associação Oncológica do Algarve, Farmácia Helena and Ótica Luís).

This initiative also has the support of the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, within the scope of the Cuida-te program.
