Castro Marim launches senior gymnastics program

“Toca a Stir” starts on April 11

“Toca a Mexer”, a fitness and relaxation program that aims to ensure the maintenance of physical activity, mobility and autonomy of the elderly, starts in Castro Marim on April 11th with weekly, personalized and totally free classes.

The promotion of autonomy and active and healthy aging is the main goal of this plan developed exclusively for the senior population residing in this Algarve region. «The objective is to increase the practice and maintenance of daily physical activity, with dynamization of exercises that promote musculoskeletal strength, mobility, motor coordination, stability and body balance».

Classes, held weekly, will operate with small groups and with the dynamism of a specialized monitor, but there is also the possibility of individualized sessions and at home, «for the most isolated residents and with difficulties in terms of autonomy, through signaling from the partners. and in an action of direct collaboration with the Municipality of Castro Marim».

The initiative is part of the Castro Marim (COM) Vida project, together with the Municipality of Castro Marim, and starts next Monday in the town of Monte Francisco (where it runs until July). From September to November it is the turn of Furnazinhas, from January to March 2023 Alta Mora and from April to June 2023 Azinhal.
