The “Dolphins Championship”, dedicated to children between 5 and 8 years old, started in Albufeira on the 2nd of April and has four more stages: 23rd and 25th of April, 8th and 15th of May and 5th of June (final ).
Divided into groups according to age – Dolphins A (8 years old), B (7 years old) and C (between 5 and 6 years old) – the youngest athletes in the municipality of Albufeira have the opportunity to experience what is a championship totally designed for them, on a big lawn.
The championship, which has been in existence for over a decade, began on the 2nd of April and on the 23rd of April the second stage begins, at Estádio João Campos, in the parish of Paderne, from 15:00. The third round of this edition will take place on April 25th. On this day, parents and children can socialize and celebrate at 15:00 pm at the city's Synthetic Municipal.
After a few days of break, on the 8th of May, the fourth match begins, at Estádio João Campos, and on the 15th of May, the fifth match will be played at the synthetic stadium of the Estádio da Nora. Finally, on the 5th of June, the final will take place at Estádio Arsénio Catuna, in Guia.
«The most important thing in this project is to promote socializing between the children and between the parents themselves, who fill the stands», says José Carlos Rolo. According to the mayor of Albufeira, «the Dolphins is a championship that was born in 2007, with the aim of creating competitive activities for these age groups. But in the end, everyone is a winner. What we encourage is healthy competition, fair play, camaraderie and sportsmanship”.
