Lagos welcomes Ana Bacalhau, Bruno Nogueira and Ondjaki until June

Concerts by Ana Bacalhau and Azeitonas, a show by Bruno Nogueira or sessions with writers such as Ondjaki and Sandro William Junqueira. These are some of the highlights of the events agenda, from April to June, in Lagos. 

The shows at the Lagos Cultural Center begin on the 1st of April with Cláudia Pascoal, the famous artist of “O Jardim” and “Fado Chiclete”, followed by the band Plasticine on the 2nd.

Tiago Bettencourt will present the concert “2019 Rumo ao Eclipse” on April 9, and Bruno Nogueira will be responsible for animating the audience with “Leave Pimba in peace” on the 16th, a show that is already sold out.

Also in April, Quorum Ballet brings the timeless story of “Romeo and Juliet” to this cultural facility. On the 13th of May, the night is for Azeitonas with “Bos os 3”.

In June, there will also be two shows as part of the cycle “The Eternals, the Consecrated and those who have just arrived”: Ana Bacalhau on the 9th and João Gil on the 10th.

The program will also focus on performances by local cultural associations, including the Duval Pestana Auditorium, the Orquestra Ligeira de Lagos (April 15th), the Lagos Dance Association (April 29th and 30th and June 23rd to 25th), Sociedade Filarmónica Lacobrigense 1st of May (6th of May), the AORCA (7th of May) and the Questão Repetida and ARTIS XXI (18th of June).

Also at the Cultural Centre, this spring you will have the opportunity to enjoy four magnificent exhibitions: “Notes on empathy and otherness” and “With feet in the clouds” by António Alonso (2 April to 21 May) and “Xávega Art in Lagos” and "Faro Oeste” by Paulina Pimentel (June 4th to July 16th).

Used to host various cultural activities, the Municipal Library of Lagos Dr. Júlio Dantas will also have options for different tastes and ages.

In April, the artist João Só will be present on the 21st and Jorge Serafim and Eduardo Madeira on the 29th. Also in that month, a new monthly reading club will start, “Around the World in 11 Books”, which will be moderated by the acclaimed writer Sandro William Junqueira, and with the presence of Ondjaki at the June session.

From the 25th and 28th of May, great Italian filmmakers are celebrated with the “Festival de Cinema Italiano”, and in June the highlight goes to the workshop of Pedro Lamares Soeiro (4th and 5th).

Alongside culture, sport will also resume some of its events in our county.

From the 8th to the 10th of April, the 17th International Speed ​​Skating Tournament Terras do Infante – Lagos dos Descobrimentos will take place, a modality that has seen the birth of several local champions.

From the 23rd to the 25th of April, the bay of Lagos will be the “stage” for the 2nd edition of the National Windsurfing Formula Championship. The biggest international speed catamaran event, the GC32 Racing Tour, also returns in 2022 for two more stages full of strong emotions on our coast: 22-26 June (Lagos Cup) and 13-17 July (World Championship).
