Escola Superior de Saúde joins CHUA to help diagnose osteoporosis

Protocol will allow CHUA to use UAlg school equipment

Collaborating «actively in the diagnosis of osteoporosis» is the main objective of a protocol signed yesterday, the 24th, between the Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) and the Escola Superior de Saúde da Universidade do Algarve (ESSUAlg), which will make it possible to monetize «the equipment and the technical and human resources available at this school, in close coordination with the specialists of the CHUA Radiology Service».

As explained by Ana Varges Gomes, chairman of the Board of Directors of CHUA, «by providing the school with the necessary equipment to perform bone densitometry, this protocol allows, on the one hand, that the school can continue to train its students together with our imaging, which will be articulated with the school to guide the exams and their own reading, and, on the other hand, that users take the exams in an integrated circuit».

«This is a protocol that we hope can serve the entire Algarve community and CHUA users, putting the academy's knowledge at the service of users, preventing them from having to make large trips to carry out these bone mineral composition assessment exams» , considered, for his part, Luís Ribeiro, director of ESSUAlg.
