The Alcoutim Chamber decided, last Wednesday, March 23, to support the Association of Forest Owners of Cumeadas do Baixo Guadiana with 28 thousand euros.
«The protocol aims to boost teamwork in the various areas in which the association provides services, in order to improve and value all the rural community, namely with the development of awareness actions among the population, as well as collaboration in the organization of days and events», explains the City Council.
It is also intended to support the active operation of the Sapadores Florestais team, whose competences include the development of preventive forestry actions, fire surveillance actions and combat support (first intervention, aftermath actions and surveillance after the aftermath).
Cumeadas is headquartered in the village of Pereiro and has supported Alcoutenejo forestry producers since 2000.
The association's main mission is to boost sustainable investment in Alcoutim, seeking to simplify development projects.
«Cumeadas is today also a partner in the defense of the forest and its resources and in the management and planning of the territory», concludes the municipality.
