It is not possible to make the data/information available in real time

Some services of the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA) are being affected by the failure of the communications service, due to the cyberattack suffered by Vodafone yesterday, February 7th.

The IPMA announced, in a statement, that “this condition is having an impact on the observation network” of that Institute, “it is not possible to make data/information available in real time”.

However, «in terms of meteorological data communications related to the national civil protection system, the situation is safeguarded by a dedicated network (redundancy system)».

However, he adds, “telephone communication with the IPMA is conditioned”.

Therefore, “the contingency plans of the respective areas were activated to guarantee the operability of the systems and ensure the minimum services, until the situation is restored by the operator”, adds the IPMA.
