Covid-19: Algarve registers 4 more deaths and 2200 new cases, R(t) continues to decline

The Algarve registers four more fatalities and 2200 new cases of Covid-19, according to the bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health this Friday, February 4th, which has just been released, with similar numbers of deaths and infections. those reported in recent days in the region.

Nationally, there are 47.199 new cases of Covid-19, a decrease compared to yesterday (50.447), but also compared to data from last Friday, January 28, the day on which 63.833 new infections were recorded.

Looking at today's report, the North has, once again, most of the new infected (+18.103), followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (+13.981), Center (+9.198), Algarve (+2.200), Alentejo (+1.952), Azores (+1.191) and Madeira (+574).

In terms of deaths, our country today recorded 50 more, distributed across Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (17), North (16), Center (8), Algarve (4), Madeira (3), and Azores (2).

The risk matrix was updated today and brings good news, with R(t) decreasing.

OR(t), the transmissibility index, dropped to 1,05, both at the national level and taking into account only Mainland Portugal.

The incidence rose to 7163,7 cases of infection per 100 inhabitants, nationally, and to 7207,0 cases, excluding the islands.

Contrary to what happened yesterday, admissions increased again. There are now five more patients in the ward (total of 2.445) and 19 more in Intensive Care Units (total of 174).

If we compare it with the data from a week ago, we can see how admissions have risen both in the ward (28 on January 2.320) and in the ICU (the most serious cases were 152).

If we compare with February 4, 2021, when there were 7.914 new cases, the difference between the situation experienced in hospitals and the number of deaths is much greater. There were 6.496 inpatients, with 863 people in intensive care. The deaths were 225 a year ago.

Returning to today's bulletin, the number of recovered was 46.469. Active cases have gone up and are now 642.793 (+680).

There are 660.347 contacts under surveillance (+7.285).
