Covid-19: Algarve does not register deaths, incidence drops and R(t) below 1

Data have just been released by DGS

The Algarve has over 770 new cases of Covid-19, on a day when the region does not register any deaths due to the disease, when the incidence decreases and the R(t) drops to less than 1. These are the most relevant data in the Algarve. bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health this Monday, February 7th, which has just been released.

Nationally, there are 17.019 new cases of Covid-19, a lower number compared to yesterday (31.431), but a decline in infections that is usual on Mondays. Also in relation to data from last Monday, January 31, there was a decrease in new cases, on a day when 27.916 new infections were recorded.

 

Looking at today's report, the North has, once again, most of the new infected (+7.608), followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (+4.326), Center (+2.269), Azores (1.077), Algarve (+770), Alentejo (+564) and Madeira (+405).

In terms of deaths, our country today recorded 36 more, spread across Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (11), North (11), Center (10) and Alentejo (4).

The risk matrix was updated today and brings good news, with R(t) and incidence decreasing.

OR(t), the transmissibility index, dropped to less than 1, standing at 0,97, both nationally and taking into account only Mainland Portugal.

The incidence dropped for the first time since the country was hit by the wave of the Ómicron variant, to 6901,0 cases of infection per 100 inhabitants, nationwide, and to 6953,7 cases, excluding the islands.

 

Compared to yesterday's figures, there are now 49 more patients in the ward (total of 2.560), but two less in intensive care (total of 178).

Even so, if we compare with the data from a week ago, we can see that there are fewer admissions to the ward (on January 31 there were 2.469), but in the ICU, the most serious cases were a total of 160.

If we compare it to February 7, 2021, when there were 3.508 new cases, the difference between the situation in hospitals and the number of deaths is much greater.

There were 6.248 inpatients, with 865 people in intensive care. The deaths were 204 a year ago.

Returning to today's bulletin, the number of recoveries was 37.646 (for a total of 2.304.585).

Active cases continue to decline (-20.663) and are now a total of 608.147.

There are 665.534 contacts under surveillance (+1.092).
