Correio dos Afetos, a project developed in partnership by the Senior and Aldeia das Sobreiras Social Centers and the Lar da Criança de Portimão, will start next Monday, February 14th.
According to the Portimão Chamber, the project aims to «stimulate intergenerational ties between the participants, through the monthly exchange of correspondence».
The first delivery of the Correio dos Afetos is scheduled for February 14, «the day when love is par excellence marked», and will take place at 11:30 am, at the premises of Lar da Criança in Portimão.
A mailbox will be delivered by the hands of two users of the Senior Convivial Center of Aldeia das Sobreiras, already containing several letters intended for children.
This project will involve 150 preschool children from Lar da Criança and 42 users from the Community Centers in Aldeia das Sobreiras and Portimão.
Participants in the project will, through a letter, a postcard, a photo, a drawing, or other artistic expressions, «share emotions in an attempt to create complicity and empathy, in the sense that isolation is overcome and affective bonds are created between the various correspondents'.
