A trip to the hairdresser, the courthouse and the post office. The “Professions” project is showing 1st cycle students at Colégio Bernardette Romeira (Olhão) the different professions that exist and how they contribute “to a happier and more cohesive community”.

As part of this project, the College took the architects Urduja Morelli and Luís Pinho to a class for presentations on their work.

The 2nd year students also made a study visit around the city, in which they visited several jobs and had contact with the workers of these same places. The group passed through the CP, the Court, the CTT and the hairdressing salon of D. Fátima.

At the Court, judge «Cátia Monteiro welcomed the class and developed with the students a simulation of a hearing, with an accused, a lawyer, witnesses and an ombudsman. The class also took a guided tour of the facilities», says the College.

At CTT, the students were welcomed by Sérgio Cavaco and Florbela. In addition to explaining the different functions within a post office, the children also received a stamp commemorating the 500th anniversary of CTT.

The students also visited the CP and explored the various functions linked to locomotive transport and stopped at the hairdressing salon in D. Fátima.

According to Colégio Bernardette Romeira, it is already possible to take stock of this initiative: «students are interested, curious, and are increasingly informed about the way in which the different work areas make up the social fabric.

Otherwise, the project will continue during this school year.
